About: DE-SCHOOLING

This research is meant to be a practical extension of Re-hallucinating Contexts in the format of reading group. The programme will take place from May to the end of 2010. The reading group will include collaborators of TkH and interested individuals from the Paris cultural-artistic scene. We also plan to have a few guests who would take part in certain sessions on demand.

The programme is not dedicated to an academic education or research of and by the participants, but aims to provide a theoretical background for theoretical, cultural and artistic practice or even interventions into the local (Paris) scene. Deschooling is influenced by critical writings on education by Jacques Ranciere and Ivan Illich.

TkH intensively works on the subject of self-education and other critical educational formats for years. Therefore, Deschooling is considered an extension and internationalization of the project Deschooling Classroom that we run together with the organization Kontrapunkt in the Western Balkans.

About: RE-HALLUCINATING CONTEXTS: BELGRADE – PARIS

The departure of HOW TO DO THINGS BY THEORY are “the Belgrade” of TkH and “the Paris” of Les Labos – two contexts, situations and realities, the power of whose margins and minorities are not evident. As we are unfamiliar with one another’s frames of reference and belonging, the productive way to learn or teach about the context we consider or wish to belong to is to transform it!

The free market economy is the underlying logic that rules all scenes; it entertains the illusion that capital dissolves contexts turning them into a smooth space of operation. This approach insists on what is ignored or considered to be surpassed by the liberal individualism driving freelance artists today: the context. Bounds and rules, distribution of roles and places, as well as where and what you belong to, and what is your matter of concern – are unpopular questions, to put it mildly.
